OTBA is launching an exciting new project, bringing together young UK musicians with artists from Indigenous tribes and marginalized communities worldwide. Through this unique collaboration, they’ll remix traditional tracks—sampling original sounds and blending them with their own lyrics and beats—creating a powerful fusion of contemporary British music and global influences. Each song will be inspired by the culture and struggles of the communities involved.
The first track, The Fire Song by the Noke Koi Tribe, which features in the film Rise, will be reinterpreted by Anolah, a talented young singer-songwriter from London. We are also developing collaborations with musicians from Kenya, The Gambia, Ciudad Bolívar in Colombia, Syria, and Native American Indian Tribes. The resulting collection of songs will be showcased through live performances at events such as WOMAD and Glastonbury festivals. With sufficient funding, we aim to produce a full album featuring original tracks on one side and remixed versions on the other, supporting both UK-based musicians and global communities affected by persecution and climate change.
